Leadership |
Leadership, irrespective of one's values and beliefs, is first and foremost about ‘making sense’, because only if we can make sense of the world around us can we begin to coherently address the many problems the world faces. We believe that the primary means by which we make sense is through fact-based storytelling (constructing narratives). Furthermore, it is only through the construction of coherent narratives that we can distinguish between key challenges and mere distractions and thus plot a meaningful course of action, capable of taking us, without unnecessary diversions, to where we want to be. And of course it is only through the telling and retelling of stories that we can give voice to others and in so doing create a shared sense of purpose and direction - even during times of radical/fundamental change. Our leadership development programmes build on these insights and utilise the challenges leaders face as the context for developing the narratives and counternarratives that make it possible to address these challenges effectively. Drawing on the expertise and experience of our faculty and utilising the School’s innovative experiential learning methodology, we are able to support a wide range of tailor-made leadership development programmes, ranging from individual learning sessions to the setting up and running of entire ‘democracy schools’.
