We usually build our programmes around specific thematic clusters and over time have accumulated substantial experience and expertise in a number of areas including the following:
human rights and the rule of law
community safety and human security
diversity, equality and social cohesion
violent extremism and terrorism
worklessness, crime and deprivation
regeneration and sustainable development
public health, wellbeing and happiness
service design and improvement
If a programme falls outside our core areas of expertise, we work with the client to identify advisers either within the client organisation or externally and invite them to join either our project team or an advisory committee.

As a learning organisation, reflection is at the heart of everything we do. Evaluations of our work focus on the following areas:
Clients – Are we following our vision and realising our mission?
Methodology – Are our means in keeping with our ends?
Services – Are we delivering on our value proposition?
Colleagues – Are we bringing out the best in each other?
Funders – Are we delivering value for money?
Monitoring and evaluating the progress of individual learners is part of the service we provide. This ranges from programme-level monitoring and feedback, to highly personalised, value-added mentoring and/or coaching arrangements.
Evaluations of our services are carried out by fellows specialising in evaluation, unless a third-party evaluation is requested by a client or a funder.
The School also makes its evaluation capability available to clients and conducts project, programme, corporate and partnership level evaluations on their behalf. Such evaluations often form the first step in reshaping or refining a client’s political leadership development strategy and practice.
Anyone interested in this aspect of the School’s work should contact us via the contact form provided.
